Hopefully someone will soon pick up this fine oriental RPG. Preferably with a side order of Kung Pao Chicken!

Seppuku as a Freely Improvable Skill

Submitted by Anonymous

Once, many years ago, we were preparing to play a game of Bushido.

In the first edition of Bushido, you got a certain number of skills, based on intelligence, that were considered 'Freely Improvable Skills'.

These were skills that could be improved through practice, rather than having a formal mentor or instructor. So, as we are all sitting there diligently creating our characters, my friend Bill turned to Gary, our GM, and asked him, with an angelically innocent look on his face, if he could take Seppuku (a legitimate skill in Bushido) as a Freely Improvable Skill. Needless to say, we all sat there stunned for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. (For those who don't get it - Seppuku is the Japanese word for ritual suicide).
